In the world of automotive locksmithing, tools like the KEYDIY KD-X6 are invaluable when it comes to programming vehicle keys. Today, we'll dive into the process of programming a smart key for a Toyota GR86, using a blend of original and KD universal keys.
Preparing for Toyota GR86 Key Programming
Before diving into the programming task, ensure you have a stable power source and that your KEYDIY KD-X6 is ready for use. You'll need one original GR86 key and any universal KD keys you plan to program. Having these on hand and verified is crucial.
Starting the Programming Process
The first action is to select 'Immo Programming' from the main menu on the KEYDIY device. From there, navigate to 'Toyota' and select 'GR86'.
Upon selecting the vehicle, a function list appears. One key function, 'Smart Number of keys', allows the current number of keys to be checked.
Verifying Current Keys and Erasing Unneeded Ones
After turning on the ignition switch, the device connects and displays the number of keys currently paired to the vehicle.
Choose 'Smart Key Erase' to remove all but one key. You’ll be asked to place a key against the ignition switch; this key will remain active.
Once done, the system confirms the successful deletion of the keys, keeping only the original one active.
Adding New Universal Smart Keys
Select 'Smart Key Addition' to add new keys. Ensure the car doors are closed for accurate programming conditions.
Follow the prompts to hold each universal key near the start button, completing the pairing for each.
Once both keys are added, the device will indicate a successful completion.
Conducting Key Functionality Tests
With the keys programmed, it’s time to verify their functionality. Begin with the original key, confirming that the lock, unlock, and keyless entry features work.
The universal KD keys should demonstrate the same capabilities, including trunk release and start functions.
